Update: I know it's late, but the results are in. /laughs/ docs.google.com/spreadsheet/cc…

Welcome academy students!

All the class assignments will be released soon and now it's time for everybody to sign up! Remember to read the Education System to understand how classes work.

Class Sign-up List: docs.google.com/spreadsheet/cc…

Assignments are due roughly 6-8 weeks from now! A countdown timer widget will be placed on the front page.

Sign Up For Your Classes!

Alright students! It's time to pick your classes. The way it works is different this semester. Here's how!

:bulletred: You must sign up for one compulsory class, which you must complete to be able to sustain or raise your grade. This is the one that counts.

:bulletred: You then sign up for two elective classes in addition to your compulsory class. These are optional. You don't have to complete these if you find yourself out of time. These classes help broaden your skill set.

:bulletred: Please remember to put considerable effort into all of your assignments. Not necessarily a longer comic. Rushed or half-baked work have a greater risk of failing, even if the task was fulfilled within character.

:bulletred: Comment here to sign up. Write your student name and make a list of the top 7 classes in the order you want him or her in. The first choice will be your compulsory class, and then the two following classes will be your electives. If your first choice of class is full, your list gets bumped up and next choice will be considered. First come first serve.

Example: You sign up for classes by commenting below.
1) Alchemy
2) Water
3) Fire
4) Lightning
5) Light
6) Earth
7) Illusion
In this case, your choices are: Alchemy as your compulsory, Water and Fire as your electives.

:bulletred: You can sign-up anytime within the class period. Just don't sign up like on the last day. Why would you wait until the last day to do your assignment, right?

:bulletred: Once you are accepted into the classes, you can't switch.

Available Classes

The teachers will be taking your attendance. They will be looking after you! Any questions about your assignment? Ask them! Here's the list of available classes this semester, with brief descriptions for each class.

Water Magic by Conan: Quattrochi
Learn to turn a defensive maneuver into offensive maneuver using water manipulation techniques.

Wind Magic by Tien: ForbiddenImmortality
Learn to manipulate the air to form an extension of your reach and grip.

There is a maximum of 10 compulsory seats and 20 elective seats per classroom. When a class becomes full, I'll update this list to show which is full already. Numbers are subject to change accordingly.

The actual assignments will be released a few days later. There are roughly 6-8 weeks to complete these assignments.

Good luck!

P.S. When you submit your assignments, please we stress you to keep your multi-page comics all in one deviation, either you ZIP it all, make one really long comic strip, make a flash comic, etc.. This will make grading easier because pages flood the gallery folders and tend to get all scattered, lost, or both.

Student Demonstration Option

Here is a new feature we are trying this semester. This option gives top grade students the chance to do something different. Here are the details.

:bulletblue: Only students with grade A or higher can take this option. Check the student list for your grade standing.

:bulletblue: If your student has learned a technique from previous classes in past semesters, you can make a comic of your student revisiting and demonstrating the said technique.

:bulletblue: You must give it your own twist and show something new you may have experienced from your years of using it. Improvise! Be creative! For example, maybe an Glacial Spear that shoots multiple shots at once, or one that could bounce off walls, which is really odd. Remember to stay in character and try to keep it realistic within your Eden capacity. Can you really cast a glacial meteor, really?

:bulletblue: In order to take this option, when you sign up and create your list of classes, set your choice of any order as "Demonstration: [subject | technique | link to your past comic]". The link is for proof of completion. Its submission date will also be considered as proof. You may only do one Demonstration per semester.

:bulletblue: It can be completed for a compulsory credit instead of taking a compulsory class, or as an elective if you wish. It depends on how you arrange your sign-up list of choices.

Example: You sign up for classes by commenting below.
1) Demonstration: Ice | Glacial Spear | fav.me/d2v93o6
2) Water
3) Fire
4) Lightning
5) Light
6) Earth
7) Illusion
In this case, your choices are: Demonstration as your compulsory, Water and Fire as your electives.

:bulletblue: You may collaborate with another student doing Demonstration. It doesn't necessarily need to be the same subject. Find a way to make it interesting or comedic.

:bulletblue: Completing a Demonstration improves your character's ability in using that technique, whether it is power, speed, endurance, efficiency, etc. depending on the technique and how you used it.

:bulletblue: If your choice to opt-in for Demonstration was denied by us for any reason, your list will be bumped up and your next choice will be considered.

:bulletblue: Some subjects may be restricted. Also, take note that previous classes of Holy Arts have been renamed to Light Arts.

Self-Study Option

Here is another new feature we are trying this semester. This option gives high grade students the chance to learn something from previous classes. Here are the details.

:bulletblue: Only students with grade B or higher can take this option. Check the student list for your grade standing.

:bulletblue: If your student wanted to learn a technique or the basics of a subject from a past semester, you can make a comic of your student visiting the Library, studying through dusty old books, then practicing it by fulfilling the assignment's tasks.

:bulletblue: There are no teachers to assist you, but you can cameo an experienced student to assist your student. Get permission first. Perhaps RP it out.

:bulletblue: In order to take this option, when you sign up and create your list of classes, set your choice as "Self-Study: [subject | lesson | link to the class comic]". This option is only available as an elective. It cannot be first on your list of classes. You may only do one Self-Study per semester.

:bulletblue: Pass or fail is up to you. Success will depend on how well your student performs his or her practices. Remember to stay in character. For example, if your student naturally has problems channeling Ice Eden, doing a Glacial Spear should be a difficult task. Give up or keep on trying.

Example: You sign up for classes by commenting below.
1) Water
2) Self-Study: Ice | Glacial Spear | aohc.deviantart.com/art/Celie-…
3) Fire
4) Lightning
5) Light
6) Earth
7) Illusion
In this case, your choices are: Water as your compulsory, Self-Study and Fire as your electives.

:bulletblue: Select a class assignment from the gallery folders below. Deviations that were deleted or sent to storage not are available for Self-Study.

Class Archives at the Library
S1: aohc.deviantart.com/gallery/24…
S2: aohc.deviantart.com/gallery/25…
S3: aohc.deviantart.com/gallery/28…
S4: aohc.deviantart.com/gallery/32…

:bulletblue: You may not collaborate.

:bulletblue: If you were considering self-studying an old class lesson and there's a current class that is teaching that same lesson again, you cannot self-study it and must attend the current class.

:bulletblue: If your choice to opt-in for Self-Study was denied by us for any reason, your list will be bumped up and your next choice will be considered.

:bulletblue: Some subjects may be restricted. Also, take note that previous classes of Holy Arts have been renamed to Light Arts.

If you have any questions regarding any of this, please don't hesitate to ask by commenting below. We are here to help!

FAQ

Q: Are we allowed to sit in for more classes other than the electives?
A: You can sit in more classes only after you finish the first 3, but the learning experience is minimal or none because the teacher is not teaching you directly. When you do these, please append "EXTRA" to the title of your deviation.
